Forms and Scope of Labour Migration from the Russian Federation

Abstract

The article discusses the forms and scope of labour emigration from the Russian Federation, main international conventions and Russian legislation in this sphere. Particular attention is paid to the ILO Conventions, especially Convention No. 143 on abuses in the field of migration and on ensuring equal opportunities and treatment for migrant workers. It analyzes the statistics on the labour emigration of Russians over the past 10 years, as well as the socio-economic, political and other factors that determined moving of Russian citizens abroad for employment. The authors draw special attention to the negative consequences of the brain drain from Russia.
