The article considers the evolution of the Eurasian economic integration in 1995-2015, describes its trends and problems, analyses its status in the context of worsening of the world political situation after the return of the Crimea and Sevastopol under Russia’s sovereignty.

The article addresses the possible ways to develop integration processes within the Eurasian Economic Union, the level of strengthening of the integration and the future role of supranational bodies in solving standing operational challenges of this integrative association. It shows the key vectors and principles of building agreed policies by the Eurasian Economic Union Member States, including industry, agriculture, transport, energy and financial policies.

Falling of the world oil prices exposed the existing problems of oil-producing countries and emerging insecurity of their economies. The article analyses the trade and economic policy of China. On the example of the cooperation with African countries, the author notes that China is a rapidly growing economy aspiring to global leadership. Analyzing the total Chinese-African trade turnover and direct Chinese investments into African economies, the author stresses both positive and negative sides of this process. From one side the presence of China in Africa means that Western countries now have a strong rival which is not willing to implant its values and lifestyles, rather it is constantly mainstreaming the economic dimension as the main focus of its presence on the continent. Yet on the other hand, direct Chinese investments into key sectors of African economies will cause an excessive dependency of African countries on the Chinese financial flows.

Development of regional structures in the twenty-first century is extremely dynamic.In this regard, it is important to note the formation of the Eurasian economic Union as a new geopolitical and geo-economic center of the Eurasian region.The Eurasian economic Union is characterized by the rapid spread of it’s influence on the various parts of the Great Eurasian region (the Baltic region, the Caucasus region, the Asian region) and on other continents (e. g., Latin America).That’s why it is actual to talk about “the diffuse form” of the new integration development, which reflected the interpenetration of cultural traits, traditions of different peoples through trade, migration, tourism, science, culture, etc.

The article examines formation of the territory of the Russian state at various stages of its development. Geopolitical, ideological and political factors that influence this process are analyzed. The process of incorporation of new territories into the Russian state is characterized. The author gives the comparative analysis of Russian and Western experience of development of attached lands. It is concluded that within the Russian statehood Eurasian space was territorialized as an element of geopolitical structure of the world.
